Meet Tressa Ali
Tressa Ali is an interdisciplinary artist working between painting and sculpture.
With a background in architecture, her practice at Tess Studio (Toronto, Canada) explores the body, form, and space as sites of memory, fracture, and collective liberation.
Artist Statement
Redemption is never an individual experience.
No body is freed alone; freedom becomes meaningful only when it is shared.
My practice unfolds at the threshold between surface and volume, between painting and sculpture, between the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional, between what is seen and what is carried.
The body, within these works, holds the memory of fracture and restraint.
Yet it is also the site of movement, ascent, and redemption.
Freedom always passes through pain, not as the absence of wounds, but as an awareness of them.
Forms in my work are never still.
They exist in transition, seeking balance between weight and light, between falling and flight.
These works speak of a collective ascent, a shared movement toward freedom, possible only through togetherness.
Selected works from the ongoing series Homeland, Unframed Freedom, Bones of Light, and Redemption.
